The 'Water Electrolysis-Based Hydrogen Production Base Project' is a project to build infrastructure in Boryeong City, Chungnam, with a hydrogen production capacity of more than 1 ton (t) per day, capable of both storing and transporting hydrogen. The hydrogen produced at this base is expected to be supplied to nearby hydrogen refueling stations, contributing to the activation of the hydrogen mobility ecosystem.
Hyundai Engineering will be responsible for overall design, procurement of water electrolysis equipment, permits, and construction in this project. After conducting basic design early next year, construction is planned to begin by the first half of 2025, with full-scale clean hydrogen production starting in 2026.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Engineering is focusing on securing capabilities in clean hydrogen projects based on the judgment that hydrogen, a key energy source in the carbon-neutral era, will lead the future energy market. The company is laying the foundation for building a green hydrogen ecosystem through cooperation with numerous domestic and overseas organizations.
