KTX Train Stops Confirmed at Sangbong Station in Jungnang-gu... Starting 29th, 3 Daily Runs (2 Downbound, 1 Upbound) on Jungang Line KTX Stopping at Sangbong Station
From the end of this month, the Jungnang-gu Office (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) announced that the Jungang Line KTX-Eum train will stop at Sangbong Station. This will enable travel from Sangbong to Andong within 2 hours, marking a significant improvement in transportation accessibility.
The district revealed that on the 12th, Korea Railroad Corporation received approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for the "KTX Combined Train and Jungang Line KTX-Eum Sangbong Station Stop Operation Plan." Accordingly, ticket sales will begin on the 14th, and from December 29, the KTX-Eum train will stop at Sangbong Station.
The KTX Jungang Line train departing from Cheongnyangni Station will stop at Sangbong Station before continuing to Andong. The train will stop at Sangbong Station three times daily: twice southbound and once northbound. The southbound stops are scheduled daily at 7:13 AM and 11:57 AM, and the northbound stop at 3:51 PM.
The district has conducted multiple consultations with the National Assembly and Korea Railroad Corporation to secure the Jungang Line KTX-Eum train stop at Sangbong Station. Joint investigations with Korea Railroad Corporation emphasized the availability of track capacity at Sangbong Station, and through continuous negotiations, the Jungang Line KTX stop at Sangbong Station was achieved.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, "The Jungang Line KTX stop at Sangbong Station is a result of persistent discussions with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Korea Railroad Corporation, and local lawmakers since 2019 to establish the necessity of the stop." He added, "With expected demand growth following the opening of Bujeon by the end of next year, we will continue to work closely with Korea Railroad Corporation to increase the number of stops."
