Lee Seon-gyun Threatened by Entertainment Venue Woman Missing for Two Months... Possibility of Virtual Character
Police Likely to Conduct Third Investigation of Lee Once Details Emerge
The police investigating a celebrity drug case are searching for a person who is reportedly involved in threatening actor Lee Seon-gyun (48) along with a female manager of an entertainment establishment, but the person's identity has not been revealed for two months.
According to the police on the 13th, the Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency is tracking down Mr. B, who, together with Ms. A (29, female), a manager of a nightlife establishment in Gangnam, Seoul, threatened Lee and extorted money from him.
Ms. A was arrested and indicted last month on the 3rd on charges related to psychotropic substances under the Narcotics Control Act, but Mr. B, who is also charged with extortion, has not been identified for two months.
In a previous police investigation, Ms. A stated, "I received 300 million won in cash from Lee," and claimed that she was threatened by Mr. B. She added, "I was threatened via social networking services (SNS) by a person suspicious of my relationship with Lee," and said, "I do not know who Mr. B is."
After drug use allegations against Lee were reported in the media last October, he filed a complaint against Ms. A and Mr. B through his lawyer, stating, "I was threatened in relation to this case and extorted 350 million won."
The police reportedly conducted a victim investigation with Lee's lawyer, who was authorized to provide testimony regarding the extortion case.
The police plan to identify Mr. B’s identity and, once the outline of the extortion case becomes clear, conduct a third summons investigation to further investigate Lee’s drug use charges. However, they are not ruling out the possibility that Ms. A fabricated a fictitious person and gave false testimony.
Lee is suspected of using various types of drugs, including marijuana, at Ms. A’s residence this year. Ms. A, who has six prior drug use convictions, was arrested and prosecuted this year from March to August for repeatedly using or smoking methamphetamine or marijuana. During the police investigation, Lee reportedly claimed, "Ms. A deceived me and gave me the drugs," and "I did not know it was drugs."
Meanwhile, according to the police, the case involving singer G-Dragon (35, real name Kwon Ji-yong), who was accused of drug use, is expected to be dismissed soon due to lack of charges.
The police recently investigated six people, including entertainers who visited the Gangnam nightlife establishment with Kwon and female employees of the establishment, as witnesses, but reportedly failed to secure statements sufficient to prove the charges. The entertainers, who were witnesses, gave their statements via phone calls without appearing in person at the police station.
Kwon tested negative in a detailed examination. The police decided not to extend the travel ban period, which expired around the 25th of last month.
Whether to reapply for the arrest warrant of a Gangnam plastic surgeon, which was dismissed by the court last month, will be reviewed after supplementary investigation. The surgeon is suspected of providing drugs (psychotropic substances) to Lee through Ms. A.
