Dong-A University Department of Public Administration Wins Top Prize at the 21st National University Student Mock Cabinet Meeting Competition

The "National University Student Mock Cabinet Meeting Competition" has been held since 2003 for public administration major students, providing an opportunity to understand the deliberation and decision-making processes regarding national basic plans and major government policies through mock cabinet meetings, with participation from prestigious universities across the country.
In this project, Dong-A University students received high praise for presenting the positions and policy alternatives of various ministries to improve Korea's disaster safety response system.
Team leader Lee Joo-eun said, "I worked hard with my team members with the mindset of just winning an award, so I am delighted to receive the Grand Prize. Thanks to the cooperative team members, I was able to gain valuable experience." She added, "I am grateful to Professor Kang Hye-jin, who guided us well during the competition preparation, and to all the professors in the Department of Public Administration for their generous support."
Earlier, at the "Korean Association for Public Administration Public Reform Paper Contest," alumnus Cho Kyu-chul, who graduated from Dong-A University's Department of Public Administration and is currently enrolled in the master's program at Yonsei University, received the Chairman's Award of the Korean Association for Public Administration for his paper titled "Predicting Civil Servants' Turnover Intentions through Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI): From Group Prediction to Individual Prediction."
In his paper, he developed a model using the machine learning algorithm "XGBoost" to identify factors influencing the rising turnover rate of civil servants by predicting variables affecting turnover intentions.
