What Will LG's New Concept Car Revealed at Next Month's CES Look Like?
'AlphaBull' Unveiled at CES2024
6G and AI Technologies Expected to Be Added to OmniPod
LG Group's Three Electronics Affiliates' Sales Forecasted to Rise from 12 Trillion KRW in 2022 to 21 Trillion KRW in 2025
LG Electronics will unveil a concept car embodying the future mobility theme 'Alpha-able' at CES 2024, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition held next month in Las Vegas, USA. This marks LG Electronics' second time revealing a concept car at CES, following the 'Omnipod' in 2022.
Through the concept car to be unveiled this time, LG Electronics plans to clearly demonstrate President Jo Joo-wan's vision for innovation in automotive electronics, redefining the car as a 'personalized digital space.' Alpha-able signifies enabling everything within the mobility space. The focus is on the growing tendency of users to perceive mobility spaces as 'their own spaces to play, stay, and work,' driven by advancements in autonomous driving technology.
LG Electronics will reveal three themes of Alpha-able: a versatile space that can be freely transformed to provide unique experiences tailored to customer needs; an exploration experience offering customized content based on AI algorithms and LG TV’s webOS; and a relaxation experience that provides personal healing time through mental and physical stability.
Building on the technology of the existing Omnipod, LG plans to emphasize the future technologies and strategies of its three automotive electronics affiliates by advancing 6G, AI, and other technologies. This is because future mobility must inevitably involve immersive realistic content and the integration of communication and AI. President Jo expressed confidence at the IAA Mobility event last September, stating, "Alpha-able will contain even more interesting content than the previously unveiled autonomous driving concept car Omnipod."
Since 2020, LG Electronics has been expanding its automotive electronics business by unveiling various mobility concepts and directions it aims to realize at CES. The mobility direction first introduced at CES 2020 was the 'connected car.' It featured a Linux-based in-vehicle infotainment platform, webOS, demonstrating that AI services used at home could also be utilized in cars. It also highlighted the ability to connect with the AI platform LG ThinQ Home, allowing users to continue enjoying content from home on the built-in OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display inside the vehicle and control home appliances from the car.

At CES 2022, LG Electronics expanded the concept of the connected car by unveiling the physical concept car Omnipod. The virtual human 'Rhea' appeared to create an environment for home fitness, broadening the scope of mobility to lifestyle. Omnipod became a space for various entertainment activities such as office work, movie watching, exercise, and camping. With no need for a driver's seat, the spacious interior was equipped with a vehicle clothing care system and a snack bar with refrigeration functions, demonstrating that lifestyle could be enjoyed inside the car.
