National Mokpo University Institute of Library and Cultural Studies Hosts East Asian Book and Maritime Culture Forum
Proceeding with the theme of 'Anthropocene, Changes in Island Human Geography and Reconstruction of Marine Areas'
The National Mokpo University (President Song Ha-cheol) Institute of Island Culture announced on the 11th that it held the "10th East Asian Island Maritime Culture Forum" from the 8th to the 10th at the Jeongsangmuk Conference Room in the 70th Anniversary Hall of National Mokpo University.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Island Culture, and the forum was held under the main theme of "The Anthropocene, Changes in Island Humanities Landscapes, and the Reconfiguration of Marine Areas."
Under the detailed themes of space and culture, bioculture and social ecology, and sustainability of coexistence and distribution, 31 presentations were made from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia, followed by an island field trip on the last day.
In particular, this forum became more meaningful as it was co-hosted by the National Assembly Island Development Research Group, the Korea Island Promotion Agency, and the Yeungnam University BK Project Group.

The Institute of Island Culture is currently the only comprehensive island research institution nationwide conducting the Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) support project of the National Research Foundation of Korea under the theme "Island Humanities, Changes in Humanities Landscapes, and Sustainability."
