Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it was selected as the only "Excellent Institution" among Seoul's autonomous districts in the "2023 National Nutrition Management Implementation Plan Evaluation" hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.
The Excellent Institution Award in the National Nutrition Management Implementation Plan Evaluation is given to institutions that have faithfully established and implemented the national nutrition management implementation plan, considering social environmental changes and policy conditions, and have greatly contributed to national nutrition management and health promotion. In this evaluation, 15 local governments nationwide, including Yangcheon-gu, were selected as excellent institutions.
In particular, the district was highly evaluated for actively promoting the "Yangcheon Jangdokdae," a traditional food culture environment creation project that operates customized nutrition education counseling and management programs by life cycle reflecting the characteristics of the region and the demands of residents, and actively linking community resources.
In addition, the district was recognized for its efforts to resolve blind spots in nutrition management by operating the "Kids, Let's Eat Fruit" nutrition management project for children and adolescents using local children's centers, contributing to the formation of healthy eating habits and obesity prevention, and actively discovering potential beneficiaries of the "Nutrition Plus Project," a nutrition support project for vulnerable pregnant women and infants, thereby expanding the scope of beneficiaries.
