Recognized for Pivotal Role in the Development and Standardization of Mobile Communication Technology
Lee Ju-ho, a fellow at Samsung Research (SR), Samsung Electronics' advanced research organization, received the highest leadership award in the field of communication standardization from the global technology professional organization IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). Founded in 1963, IEEE is the world's largest professional organization in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, information communication, and computer science.
On the 6th, Samsung Electronics announced that Lee was solely awarded the ‘Career Awards for the Best Leader in Communication Standardization’ established this year by the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) in recognition of his pivotal role in the development and standardization of global mobile communication technologies.
Since the full commercialization of 3G smartphones in 2000, he has led advanced research and standardization in mobile communication technology. In particular, from February 2003 to August 2009, he served as the vice chair of the RAN 1 working group of 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project), a global mobile communication standardization organization, contributing to the standardization of 4G LTE technology.
