It is an expanded and developed concept of the 'Green Store' operated by the Ministry of Environment. Previously, Orga's Bangi Branch in Songpa-gu, Seoul, was selected as the first Green Specialized Store in Korea in 2020, and this time, Starfield Goyang Branch was newly added to the list due to its highly evaluated efforts to help consumers practice low-carbon and eco-friendly consumption lifestyles.
At Orga Starfield Goyang Branch, customers can experience a sustainable green consumption culture that considers the environment. First, low-carbon certified agricultural products that are organic, pesticide-free, and GAP certified, along with various seasonal fruits, vegetables, and bulb products, are sold in unpackaged bulk form. Fruits and vegetables can also be purchased individually in paper bags as needed, allowing customers to participate in reducing plastic and food waste. Fruits that are bundled are packaged in paper materials instead of conventional plastic packaging, making recycling easier. Additionally, paper receipts are replaced with membership application (app) receipts at checkout to reduce carbon emissions.
Until the 15th, a 'Environmental Label Pop-up Store' hosted by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute under the Ministry of Environment is also open at Starfield Goyang Branch. The environmental label is a certification system that encourages eco-friendly and carbon-neutral practices. During this period, customers visiting Starfield Goyang Branch can see products displayed in a space featuring environmental label-certified products, including a photo zone.
