Hanwha Systems to Supply Fire Control Systems for 180 K2 Tanks Exported to Poland
Hyundai Rotem Signs Supply Contract Worth 257.4 Billion KRW
Hanwha Systems announced on the 4th that it has signed a contract with Hyundai Rotem to supply fire control systems for 180 K-2 tanks exported to Poland. The contract is worth approximately 257.4 billion KRW.
In August last year, Hyundai Rotem signed an export contract with Poland for 180 K-2 tanks and is currently negotiating a second contract for 820 units.
Hanwha Systems' fire control system is also called the "brain of the tank." It consists of a fire control computer, gunner and commander sights, display devices, control panels, thermal periscopes, and laser warning devices. In particular, the fire control computer interacts with peripheral devices inside the turret to control the gun, turret, sights, perform ballistic calculations, and automatic tracking. Through this, it controls the tank's firepower system and responds swiftly to various missiles, increasing the tank's survivability.
Seongcheol Uh, CEO of Hanwha Systems, said, "'K-Defense' is making new history by exporting premium weapon systems to the Middle East and Europe based on outstanding advantages in price, quality, and supply," adding, "We will expand exports to various fields and countries and support establishing defense as a core export industry."
