Changwon Special City Successfully Concludes Changwon Mayor's Cup National Amateur eSports Tournament
The National eSports Championship with Doran and Choi Hyun-jun
The "2023 4th Changwon Mayor's Cup National Amateur eSports Tournament," hosted by Changwon Metropolitan City, Gyeongnam, and sponsored by NCSoft, was successfully concluded at the Changwon International Shooting Range.
This tournament featured three categories: League of Legends, Valorant, and KartRider Rush Plus, attracting 888 amateur eSports players nationwide, drawing significant attention from the recruitment stage. On the day of the finals, 114 players who passed the preliminary rounds competed to showcase their skills.
As a result, the team "Defendig CP" (Byeon Jong-min, Shin Yoo-seung, Kang Joo-chan, Jang Jae-young, Moon Kyu-rak) won the championship 2:0 against the "Awesome star" team (Jang Chan-ho, Kim Taek-gu, Han Ji-hoon, Kim Jae-won, Lee Yong-min). In Valorant, the Elite Open School Korea team (Kim Ji-hoo, Mok Min-seok, Kwon Sung-hwan, Kim Tae-geuk, Lee Si-hyun) defeated Baebang High School (Nam Jun-woo, Kim Dae-hee, Park Tae-myeong, Cheon Seung-ha, Oh Jeong-taek) to claim the title. In the KartRider competition, the family of Lee So-yeon and Nam Jung-hyun took first place, while the family of Son Sung-il and Son In-tae secured second place.
In addition to the finals held on the 2nd, various side events such as a nostalgic arcade, laser combat shooting experience, VR experience, and caricature drawing were held.
Notably, this tournament featured a lecture and autograph session by Doran Choi Hyun-joon, a professional eSports player from Changwon (League of Legends, affiliated with Hanwha Esports), which received great response not only from citizens interested in eSports but also from local youth.
