POSCO Group invited university students to hold the ‘Corporate Citizenship Level up Ground’ presentation contest, sharing ideas on corporate citizenship management.

The Corporate Citizenship Level up Ground is an event where university students who took the course ‘Corporate Citizenship Management and ESG’ learn new trends in corporate management from each other and share the results of corporate citizenship projects carried out together with POSCO Group’s mentor employees.

The event held on the 1st at the POSCO Center in Seoul was attended by Kim Hak-dong, Vice Chairman of POSCO, Kim Sung-geun, President of POSTECH, and students from 12 universities including Kangwon National University, Kyungpook National University, Gyeongsang National University, Pusan National University, Sogang University, Seoul Women’s University, Sookmyung Women’s University, Suncheon National University, Jeju National University, POSTECH, Handong Global University, and Hanyang University (in alphabetical order), as well as POSCO Group executives and employees who collaborated on the projects, totaling about 250 people.

As the corporate citizenship management philosophy has attracted attention from academia, POSCO Group has been supporting mentoring, special lectures, and learning materials since 2021 to enable ‘Corporate Citizenship Management and ESG’ to be offered as a regular university course, and it is currently operated at a total of 13 universities.

On this day, participants presented innovative corporate citizenship management ideas on various topics such as carbon neutrality, social value, and regional development, including ▲resource circulation of scrap metal in daily life ▲practices for carbon neutrality and biodiversity protection ▲improvement of aluminum recycling ▲development plans for recycling waste materials generated in Jeju.

This year, teams from Sogang University, Handong Global University, Jeju National University, Hanyang University, and Suncheon National University each received the grand prize in the five corporate citizenship brand categories: Together, Challenge, Green, Life, and Community.

In particular, the Hanyang University team attracted attention by presenting an eco-friendly festival business idea using ESS (Energy Storage System) in collaboration with POSCO Future M. This project, which utilizes drones charged with renewable energy and mobile ESS at local festivals, is expected to revitalize the local economy, enhance corporate image, and promote co-growth with climate tech venture companies.

Kim Hak-dong, Vice Chairman of POSCO, emphasized, "POSCO Group has carried out multifaceted activities to create not only economic profits but also positive environmental and social impacts based on a sense of community with society. POSCO Group will continue to actively support future generations to develop and grow together with society and build a sustainable society."

Meanwhile, in April, POSCO Group held a book concert at the POSCO Center to commemorate the publication of ‘Sustainable Management Corporate Citizenship in the ESG Era,’ which is used as a textbook for the ‘Corporate Citizenship Management and ESG’ course. The group also signed an MOU with the National Council of Presidents of National Universities and regional balanced development organizations to nurture corporate citizenship talents, striving to provide more university students with opportunities to learn about sustainability and ESG management.
