MFDS Publishes Multilingual e-Book of Food Safety Nara for Foreigners
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 29th that it has published a multilingual guidebook titled "With Siksafe Nara" as an e-book to help foreigners better understand food safety information in Korea.
This e-book was created in Chinese, Vietnamese, English, Japanese, and Cambodian to provide essential information for daily life, such as preventing food poisoning, checking recalled or sales-stopped foods, and preventing food allergies, targeting foreigners residing in Korea.
The e-book is organized into sections including exploring the Siksafe Nara website, learning about seasonal food safety information, and utilizing Siksafe Nara. For users who have difficulty reading text, a read-aloud service is also provided for the Chinese, English, and Japanese versions of the e-book.
Additionally, the Ministry plans to print the e-book as a booklet and distribute it to multicultural family support centers for multicultural families in Korea who are not familiar with internet use. Next year, a braille book for visually impaired individuals will also be produced.
Furthermore, to improve accessibility to Siksafe Nara and enhance the digital literacy of information-vulnerable groups, the Ministry plans to continuously expand the "Siksafe Nara Read-Aloud Service" using digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).
