Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that on the 27th, it held the ‘2023 Dialogue with Residents’ with Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Young-rok and Suncheon citizens at the Suncheon Bay International Wetland Center.
About 250 diverse citizens, including Governor Kim Young-rok, Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu of Suncheon, Provincial Assembly Chairman Seo Dong-wook, Suncheon City Council Chairman Jeong Byeong-hoe, provincial and city council members, heads of various organizations, as well as women and youth, participated both online and offline in the dialogue with residents.

View original imageThe event proceeded in the order of promotional video screening, provincial and city information reports, dialogue with residents, and commemorative photo session. Governor Kim Young-rok personally presided over the dialogue, exchanging suggestions and responses.
The citizens attending the dialogue made various requests including ▲improvement of dangerous road structures in Juam Industrial Complex ▲inclusion of the “National Road No. 2 Bypass” in the 6th National and Local Road Construction Plan ▲prompt decision on victims and bereaved families of the Yeosu-Suncheon Incident ▲appreciation for support of the Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo and continuous support for the garden industry ▲holding a large-scale art festival together with gardens.
In response, the governor said, “Regarding safety concerns such as the improvement of dangerous roads in Juam Industrial Complex, we will actively support problem-solving to alleviate the inconveniences of Suncheon citizens,” and added, “We will promptly complete the decision on victims and bereaved families of the Yeosu-Suncheon Incident within the legal deadline and do our best so that the bereaved families do not worry.”
He also stated, “We will actively cooperate to secure national funding for projects related to fostering the garden culture industry in Suncheon City, and we will review holding a large-scale art festival in the garden together with the city.”
Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu of Suncheon said in his welcoming remarks, “As the co-chairman of the Garden Expo organizing committee, I thank Governor Kim Young-rok for being a great support that allowed Suncheon to demonstrate its full capabilities this year,” and added, “We ask for your passionate interest and support for the new future of Honam and the growth engine of the eastern region.”
