Since May, Lotte Department Store has formed the Kids Orchestra and has been carrying out various activities. Over 1,000 applicants from 2nd grade elementary school to 2nd grade middle school applied starting in March, and after a professional screening process, 77 members were finally selected. Lotte Department Store goes beyond simple sponsorship and regularly provides high-level education free of charge with the goal of helping Korean children nurture their dreams of the global stage.
Before the 'Rejoice Concert' held in August at Lotte Concert Hall, world-renowned clarinetist Andreas Ottensamer and violinist Ray Chen conducted one-day master classes and performed alongside the orchestra members during the concert, which became a hot topic. All proceeds from the sold-out 1,900-seat concert tickets were donated to 'Hope Friends Korea Food for the Hungry International,' continuing meaningful activities.
For the Christmas season, Lotte Department Store prepared special carols with the Kids Orchestra members. The overall education and conducting were led by conductor Minhyung Lee, former deputy conductor of the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, for a total of three classical carols. Yoon Serin, a first-year middle school student, led the entire orchestra and also helped create the music. You can enjoy pieces interpreted and performed from a child's perspective.
The carol audio tracks by the first generation of the Kids Orchestra will be broadcast daily at 2 PM, 4 PM, and 7 PM from December 1 to 25 at all Lotte Department Store and Lotte Outlet locations. All three pieces are classical carols without lyrics and have relatively calm tempos, allowing customers to enjoy a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere while staying in the department store. They can also be listened to anytime on domestic and international music streaming sites, and all proceeds related to the carol audio tracks will be donated to 'Hope Friends Korea Food for the Hungry International.'
