A roundtable discussion on future policy planning for Seocho youth will be held.
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will hold the ‘Seocho-gu Youth Policy Grand Debate’ at 7 p.m. on the 27th in the district office auditorium.
This debate is organized under the theme ‘Seocho Youth, I Create the Future’ to encourage young people to participate in designing the future direction of the district’s youth policies. It also aims to reflect the voices of youth in the ongoing ‘Seocho-gu Youth Survey and Basic Plan Establishment Policy Research Project.’
The event will begin with a congratulatory performance by young artists, followed by ▲presentation of survey results ▲presentation of policy research results ▲sectoral discussions and opinion presentations ▲policy preference survey and announcement of policy priorities.
First, Kim Seung-yeon, a research fellow at the Seoul Institute, will present the results of the survey on the overall living conditions of youth in the district, including education, labor, economy, housing, and health. The survey targeted 2,000 young people.
Next, Shin In-cheol, professor of Urban Sociology at the University of Seoul, will present customized youth policies for Seocho based on the survey results. Professor Shin is expected to propose a total of 32 policies across 8 areas, including ▲Youth Smart Economy and Financial Education ▲Support for Interest on Youth Rental Deposits ▲Operation of Community-linked Employment Support Programs.
Following this, a youth roundtable discussion will be held for about an hour on the policies proposed by the research team. One hundred youths will be divided into 10 groups to discuss eight subtopics: jobs, career paths, culture, arts, daily life, stability, vitality, and participation. Each group will select and present a representative opinion.
The district will conduct a policy empathy vote among all participants on the representative opinions and disclose the results. The voting outcomes will be reflected in the policy research content.
Through this debate, the district plans to directly hear the voices of youth regarding youth policies and supplement necessary parts from the youth perspective to reflect in future policies.
Meanwhile, to implement customized youth policies, including generating ideas to solve social problems from the youth perspective, the district held the ‘6th Seocho Youth Network Performance Sharing and Completion Ceremony’ on the 26th of last month. The youth policies discovered through this will be actively incorporated into next year’s business plans and youth policies.
