Gwangju Seo-gu Conducts Decentralization Capacity Building Training for Team Leader-Level Public Officials
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) conducted a capacity-building education program on local autonomy for over 170 team leader-level (Grade 6) public officials at the Deulbul Hall of Seo-gu Office in three sessions from the 13th to the 24th.
According to Seo-gu on that day, this education was divided into three areas: Living Government, Local Autonomy, and Village Autonomy, to enhance the capabilities of public officials and redefine their roles for securing momentum by understanding the policy situation following the official launch of the Government Local Era Committee and forming a consensus on realizing a village-centered autonomous city and living government.

On the 13th, in the Living Government sector, Professor Yoo Changbok, CEO of Local Lab, a local research institute, gave a lecture titled "Democracy and Living Government," covering topics such as ▲ democracy and citizen participation methods and autonomy ▲ history led by publicness and village policies ▲ realization of living government through autonomy at the neighborhood level and social solidarity economy.
Then, on the 17th, in the Local Autonomy sector, Professor Hwang Hansik, Executive Director of the Busan Decentralization Innovation Movement Headquarters, discussed the role and attitude of public officials in the era of local autonomy under the theme "Local Autonomy and Decentralization - Practical Strategies for Regional Innovation and Balanced Development and the Role of Public Officials."
On the same day, in the Village Autonomy sector, Lee Pilgu, Director of the Ansan City Village Support Center, conducted education under the theme "Creating a Community Operated by Autonomy and Cooperation."
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, "True local autonomy is a process of deciding necessary policies at the direct level closely connected to residents' lives through smooth communication with local members," adding, "I hope public officials will consider things from the residents' perspective and carry out their duties accordingly."
