Gyeongnam Province: "We Hope the 2030 World Expo Will Be Held in Busan"
Gyeongsangnam-do announced a statement on the 23rd, five days before the decision on the host city for the 2030 World Expo, expressing support for Busan's bid to host the Expo.
In the statement, the province declared, "Together with 3.3 million residents of Gyeongnam, we earnestly hope for Busan to host the 2023 World Expo."
They supported Busan's bid, saying, "The 2023 World Expo will not be an event for Busan alone but a festival shared by Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, serving as a significant opportunity for regional and national development."

Earlier, in June, the Gyeongnam delegation led by Governor Park Wan-su visited the 172nd General Assembly of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) held in Paris, France, and participated in the 4th presentation session.
The province also contributed to on-site support and promotion of the Expo bid by utilizing its overseas offices.
Gyeongsangnam-do stated, "The government of the Republic of Korea, along with the public and private sectors, have been working together to support Busan's bid for the World Expo," and added, "We join the residents in cheering for the good news of Busan being selected as the host city for the 2030 World Expo."
The International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) will hold a general assembly in Paris on the 28th to decide the host city for the 2030 World Expo.
