'Gyeonggi International Airport Gains Broad Provincial Consensus'... Gyeonggi-do to Hold Seminar on 23rd
Gyeonggi Province held the Gyeonggi International Airport Insight Seminar.
On the 23rd, Gyeonggi Province announced that it jointly hosted the '2023 Gyeonggi International Airport Insight Seminar' with the Gyeonggi Research Institute at the Suwon Convention Center to build a broad consensus among residents on the Gyeonggi International Airport, a key project of the 8th local government administration.
The seminar, themed "The Necessity of Gyeonggi International Airport and Exploration of Promotion Plans," was attended by about 100 people, including Yeom Tae-young, Deputy Governor for Economy of Gyeonggi Province, Joo Hyung-chul, President of the Gyeonggi Research Institute, provincial assembly members, public officials from the province and cities/counties, experts from academia and research institutions, and general residents.
In the first part, Kwon Jin-woo, a research fellow at the Gyeonggi Research Institute, gave a presentation titled "A New Future Brought by a Shift in Perception." In the second part, a comprehensive discussion was chaired by Kim Han-yong, a specialist from the Aviation Policy Forum, with six experts including Professor Kim Hak-rin from Dankook University, Professor Lee Geun-young from Korea National University of Transportation, Research Fellow Park Kyung-chul from the Gyeonggi Research Institute, Researcher Lee Jae-jin from the Korea Aviation Policy Institute, and Kim Hyun-woo, a reporter from Incheon Ilbo, engaging in a lively debate.
Yu Young-il, Chairperson of the Urban Environment Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, stated, "Airport construction is a large-scale project carried out over a long period and requires meticulous preparation, so I hope that various valuable opinions will be discussed through today's seminar."
Yeom Tae-young, Deputy Governor for Economy of Gyeonggi Province, said, "The construction of Gyeonggi International Airport will play an important hub role as a new growth engine leading the future of not only Gyeonggi Province but also South Korea," and urged, "Everyone's effort and cooperation are necessary."
