Cheongsong-gun Continues to Support Orchard System Innovation for Cheongsong Apple Cultivation.
View original imageRecently, due to the aging rural population, difficulties in securing labor, and rising production costs such as labor expenses, the county has determined that innovation in the Cheongsong apple cultivation system is necessary by adopting future-type orchards such as multi-trunk (two-trunk) types that require less labor, allow early harvest and high-quality production after planting, have simple cultivation methods, and are easy to mechanize. Since 2023, the county has secured 2 billion KRW annually from its own budget to implement the Cheongsong Apple Future Orchard Sapling Cost Support Project.
Eligibility requirements include being a farm operator registered with an agricultural management entity as of November 1, 2023, with an address in Cheongsong-gun. Support will be provided for sapling costs up to 2,000 saplings per farm based on 2,000 pyeong (approximately 6,611 square meters) for orchards innovating cultivation systems with future-type orchards such as multi-trunk (two-trunk) and high-density planting. Applications can be submitted to the town or township office.

County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “We plan to reduce the burden on farmers by supporting sapling costs for future-type flat orchards such as multi-trunk types and promote innovation in cultivation systems. We will take the lead in enhancing the competitiveness of Cheongsong apples by reducing labor and material costs, producing high-quality apples, and contributing to the actual increase in farmers’ income.”
