Gwangyang City Selects Lee Eonjeong as 'Volunteer of the Year'
10,882 Hours of Volunteer Work Leading the Spread of Sharing Culture
Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that Lee Eonjeong was selected as the ‘Volunteer of the Year 2023’ through the deliberation of the Gwangyang City Volunteer Development Committee on the 21st.
The ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award has been given annually since 2019 to outstanding volunteers who practice love and sharing in the local community and serve as role models for citizens. The Gwangyang City Volunteer Development Committee selects the recipient by reviewing volunteer achievements, major activities, and contributions to the community.
Lee Eonjeong was selected as the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ for significantly contributing to the spread of a sharing culture with a total of 10,882 hours of volunteer work since 2012.
Her major activities include ▲supporting free meal services and delivering lunchboxes to the elderly ▲advocacy and activity support for people with disabilities ▲environmental improvement activities ▲cleaning welfare facilities ▲monitoring harmful environments for youth ▲participation in women-friendly citizen groups ▲the Right Living Movement ▲climate and environment network activities ▲mural painting and repainting volunteer work ▲regular sponsorship of organizations such as the Children’s Care Foundation, YWCA, and Jungma Disabled Welfare Center, greatly contributing to social service in various fields.
Her major awards include ▲Commendation from the Governor of Jeollanam-do ▲Commendation from the Mayor of Gwangyang ▲Commendation from the Chairperson of Gwangyang City Council ▲Commendation from a Member of the National Assembly ▲Commendation from the Chairperson of Jeollanam-do Council.

Meanwhile, the ‘Volunteer of the Year 2023’ award will be presented at the Gwangyang City ‘Volunteer Night’ ceremony scheduled for December 11.
