Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 22nd that it held the ‘Tongjang Cheerful Sports Day’ at Bitgoeul Gymnasium.

In particular, this year Seo-gu was selected as the ‘Best Autonomous District for Drought Overcoming’ by Gwangju City, thanks to the active cooperation and participation of the tongjangs in activities such as water-saving campaigns and water pressure adjustments to overcome drought.
The Cheerful Sports Day was conducted as team competitions divided into four zones (Living Together Zone, Growing Zone, Livable Zone, Happy Zone), featuring events such as Earth Ball Rolling, Hope Tower Building, and Balloon Survival.
Awarding of model tongjangs and a declaration to practice a friendly city also followed. Additionally, reusable lunch boxes were distributed, and event banners were recycled as art canvases, showcasing the ‘Zero Single-Use Items Gamtan Seo-gu Sports Day’.
Seo-gu Mayor Kim Ikang said, “The tongjangs who dedicate themselves and serve close to the residents are a great driving force for realizing a community-centered living government,” adding, “I hope today will be a time to put aside all work, enjoy the Cheerful Sports Day, and recharge.”
