Jeju Fire Department Secures Golden Time for Emergency Patients... Introduction of 'Pre-KTAS'
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire Safety Headquarters (Chief Kim Suhwan) is preparing for the introduction of the Korean-style pre-hospital emergency patient classification system (Pre-KTAS) next year to accurately assess the condition of emergency patients and select appropriate transfer hospitals, while seeking ways to secure the golden time for critically ill emergency patients.
According to the Jeju Fire Headquarters on the 22nd, Pre-KTAS is scheduled to be introduced next year to unify the emergency patient classification system between the pre-hospital stage and the hospital stage, and to have the 119 paramedics transfer emergency patients to hospitals capable of providing appropriate treatment based on symptoms, thereby resolving the issue of patient acceptance refusal.
The Jeju Fire Headquarters conducted a Pre-KTAS provider course for 252 119 paramedics who are emergency medical personnel riding in ambulances, and plans to take the lead in protecting the lives of residents by improving the accuracy of patient transfers based on unified classification by subject, situation, and symptoms.
Chief Kim Suhwan said, “With the introduction of Pre-KTAS, smooth coordination between 119 paramedics and emergency medical institutions will be achieved, enabling rapid transfer of emergency patients to appropriate hospitals and improving the patient acceptance issue. We will actively strive to secure the golden time for critically ill emergency patients.”
