Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 22nd that the CCTV Integrated Control Center is playing a crucial role as a guardian of the safety of residents by preventing crimes and resolving incidents and accidents.
Until last month, the county has led efforts to quickly apprehend criminals and protect residents' safety by conducting 366 monitoring cases and providing 539 video footages to police stations and related agencies.

In particular, last May, black smoke was discovered rising from the cargo bed of an 11-ton truck entering Muan-eup from Eomda-myeon, Hampyeong-gun, and the center immediately notified the police and fire stations, preventing the fire from spreading to a nearby gas station.
In August, when a construction material theft occurred, the center collaborated with the Muan Police Station to apprehend the suspect within about an hour, and two control operators received commendations from the Chief of Muan Police Station for their efforts.
Additionally, the county invested 700 million KRW this year to install 171 CCTVs at 83 locations including crime-vulnerable areas and village entrances and exits to prevent various everyday crimes such as agricultural product theft and burglary, alleviating residents' anxiety.
Governor Kim San stated, “We will continue to implement various policies to ensure the safety of residents and relieve their concerns through the installation of security CCTVs in all villages, introduction of vehicle number recognition systems, and installation of IP emergency bells and notification lights (logoprojectors).”
Meanwhile, the Muan-gun CCTV Integrated Control Center, which opened in April 2014, currently operates 1,308 CCTVs at 461 locations, conducting real-time monitoring 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with an average of 468 monitoring cases and 520 video footages provided to police stations and related agencies annually (based on the last three years).
