Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam received the Grand Prize in the Basic Local Government category of the Public Sector at the ‘16th 2023 Korea Internet Communication Awards’ held at the Korea Press Foundation Press Center on the 22nd.

The ‘Korea Internet Communication Awards’ were established in 2008 to foster a proper culture of social network service (SNS) usage, and it is the most prestigious award domestically and internationally in the SNS content field.
This year, Changwon received a total score of 84.61 points and was awarded the ‘Comprehensive Index AAA’ grade by achieving high evaluations across various categories such as ▲Digital Communication Index ▲Content Competitiveness Index ▲Monitoring ▲Operational Evaluation.
The city develops content optimized for various SNS channels and media characteristics to quickly share city policies and lifestyle information. It frequently updates Instagram Story Highlights to strengthen interconnectivity between channels and delivers major news of Changwon to citizens who do not access SNS through KakaoTalk channel messages.
Content emphasizing enjoyment in the weary daily lives of citizens also shone. Major promotional materials such as ‘Attracting the Changwon National Industrial Complex 2.0 Candidate Site’ and ‘Changwon Special City Trapped in Infinite Welfare’ were produced in various formats including dance, song, parody, and sitcom, earning praise for combining fun and information.
Additionally, the city actively communicates with citizens by producing various fresh and touching content such as stories introducing unsung local heroes, ‘Shortories’ that deliver Changwon news briefly and entertainingly by selecting only valuable information, and daily news of Changwon conveyed by bloggers and social reporters.
Currently, the city operates various SNS platforms including Instagram, Naver Blog, YouTube, Facebook, KakaoStory, Twitter, and KakaoTalk Channel. Over the past year, the number of YouTube subscribers increased by 64.2%, KakaoTalk Channel friends by 684.1%, and Instagram followers by 9.2%, proving the popularity of Changwon’s internet communication channels.
