K-Defense Industry Navigates Global Seas... HJ Junggongup Targets Overseas Markets
Foreign Government Agencies Visit Yeongdo Shipyard to Secure Domestic Air-Cushion Vehicles
Renowned Overseas for Building Air-Cushion High-Speed Landing Craft as a 'Unique Shipyard'
HJ Heavy Industries, rooted in Busan, is expanding its K-defense sales capabilities to target overseas markets.
Officials from foreign government agencies are visiting HJ Heavy Industries' Yeongdo Shipyard to conduct market research for their countries' hovercraft projects.
It is known that these officials, along with government representatives, have recently visited HJ Heavy Industries' Yeongdo Shipyard, naval vessel operation sites, and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to promote their countries' hovercraft construction projects.
HJ Heavy Industries is the only domestic shipbuilder capable of constructing air-cushion high-speed landing crafts and possesses unparalleled technological expertise in this field.

Starting from this, they secured all domestic navy orders for LSFs, including the significantly enhanced next-generation high-speed landing craft, LSF-II.
At the end of last year, HJ Heavy Industries announced orders worth approximately 650 billion KRW, including four high-speed patrol boats, the Dokdo-class performance upgrade project, the navy's Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore (JLOTS) system, and a 3,000-ton coast guard patrol vessel. The company has emerged as a defense specialist capable of handling all projects required by clients and demand agencies, from design and construction of various vessels to performance upgrades and logistics support facilities.
HJ Heavy Industries has completed all construction orders for 28 new navy high-speed patrol boats, totaling 1.5 trillion KRW. They are expecting additional orders in the high-speed patrol boat projects to be placed within this year.
The company is closely watching whether this visit will lead to a successful re-entry into overseas markets, following their first export of high-speed patrol boats to Indonesia in 1979.
An HJ Heavy Industries official explained, “We are the only domestic shipbuilder possessing the technology to construct the navy's Solgae-class high-speed landing crafts and are recognized for our unrivaled expertise in the hovercraft field.”
He emphasized, “Based on accumulated technology and experience, we will aggressively expand our sales efforts to secure orders for the latest vessels desired by domestic and international clients.”
