Gwangjin-gu Improves 726m Residential and Pedestrian Environment Around Cheonho-daero 124-gil
A Total Project Cost of 1.1 Billion KRW Invested to Transform Alleyways into Harmonious Spaces for People and Nature... Improving Old Fences and Retaining Walls, Creating Rest Areas to Enhance Resident Convenience and Safety
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) announced the completion of the ‘Neungdong Alleyway Revitalization Project.’ This project aimed to create a safe and pleasant neighborhood for both residents and visitors through environmental improvements around Neungdong Cheonho-daero 124-gil near Children’s Grand Park.
The district officially launched the project in February last year with a total budget of 1.1 billion KRW. After design services, resident meetings, and design reviews, the alleyway was newly renovated to a length of 726 meters by the end of October.
The revitalization project was based on the concept of ‘an alleyway where people and nature harmoniously coexist as one,’ focusing on improving pedestrian safety, convenience, and urban aesthetics through facility upgrades.
Specifically, the project paid attention to every detail by reflecting residents’ opinions, including ▲improvements to eco-friendly fences and retaining walls ▲installation of nature-themed landscape lighting ▲replacement of old fences ▲creation of small resting spaces for residents ▲redesign of address plates and mailboxes ▲road paving and installation of intersection alert devices.
