Two Leading Drug Group Members in 'Police Officer Fall Death' Case Admit Most Charges in First Trial
Defendants accused of leading a drug gathering related to the incident in which an active police officer fell from a building in an apartment in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, have admitted to most of the charges in court.
At the first trial held on the 17th at the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 11 (Presiding Judge Bae Seong-jung), the defense attorneys of Jeong (45) and Lee (31), who were indicted for violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances) and other charges, stated, "The defendants admit to almost all of the charges."
They are accused of providing narcotics and a place for drug use to about 20 people at an apartment located in Yongsan-gu on August 27. Jeong is the tenant of the apartment where the gathering took place. On the same day, around 5 a.m., a police officer, Sergeant A of the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency, fell from the 14th floor of the apartment and died, bringing the Yongsan-gu apartment drug gathering incident to light. At least 25 people are known to have attended the gathering and used drugs. Both defendants tested positive for narcotics such as ketamine, ecstasy, and methamphetamine in preliminary drug tests and detailed analyses, with Lee also testing positive for newly identified drug components.

However, they denied the part of the charges alleging that they provided two types of new drugs at the gathering location for use. It is known that two new drugs, including 4-methylmethcathinone, were detected at the apartment where the drug gathering took place. Nevertheless, Lee and others claimed that they never purchased these separately and argued that these substances could have been mixed into narcotics such as ketamine and ecstasy.
