Construction begins on public parking lot with 644 spaces at Incheon City Hall... Completion scheduled for October 2025
Incheon City will create a public parking lot on the current city hall playground site to alleviate the chronic parking shortage at the city hall and the Guwol business district.
The city announced that it will invest a total project cost of 35.9 billion KRW to start construction of the Incheon Aeteul public parking lot on the 20th, with three underground floors, a total floor area of 20,570㎡, and a capacity of 644 parking spaces. The completion is targeted for October 2025.
The city originally planned to build a parking lot with two underground floors and a total floor area of 22,000㎡, but decided to proceed so that it can be temporarily used until the new city hall construction begins, in connection with the new city hall construction plan. The new city hall to be built on the playground site within the city hall is scheduled to start construction in March 2025 and be completed by the end of 2027.
The city expects that parking difficulties within the city hall will worsen once the parking lot construction is in full swing, and plans to secure 373 parking spaces within the city hall, including 130 temporary parking spaces in the current parking lot, so that visitors can use them. In addition, to ease parking inconvenience for employees, the city plans to secure 400 and 100 parking spaces respectively at Munhak Stadium and the Culture and Arts Center and operate shuttle buses.
Currently, the total number of parking spaces available at Incheon City Hall is 681, but once the Incheon Aeteul public parking lot and the new city hall are completed, the total will increase to 1,922, including 644 spaces at the public parking lot, 1,085 at the new city hall, and 193 existing spaces.

An Incheon City official said, "Once the Incheon Aeteul public parking lot construction is completed, we expect not only city hall users but also parking problems around the city hall to be resolved," adding, "We will complete the construction safely and without any setbacks."
