A 'Hub-Type Smart City' to Be Established in Ulsan
Ulsan City, Jung-gu, and 9 Participating Organizations Sign 'Business Agreement'
Development of Jung-gu Ujeong Innovation City and Seongan-dong Area
Ulsan City is launching a project to create a ‘hub-type intelligent city’.
On the 17th at 5 p.m., Ulsan City announced that it will hold the ‘Ulsan City Hub-type Smart City Development Project Business Agreement Ceremony’ at the city hall’s main conference room.
The ceremony will be attended by Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, National Assembly member Park Seong-min, Jung-gu District Mayor Kim Young-gil, Ulsan University President Oh Yeon-cheon, Ulsan Technopark Director Kwon Soo-yong, and representatives of the participating consortium.
This project was selected in May as a public contest project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and will be promoted as a regionally specialized project utilizing intelligent city technology.
Following the business agreement signed between Ulsan City and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in August, an agreement among participating organizations will be held on this day to establish mutual cooperation, operation, project content and scope, and roles among the city, Jung-gu, and nine participating institutions for smooth project execution.
The main project involves establishing 14 services across four sectors in Jung-gu Ujeong Innovation City and Seongan-dong from this year until 2025.
The four sectors are △Mobility △Energy △Life △Data, and the 14 services include demand-responsive transit (DRT) autonomous buses, renewable energy measurement systems, smart transportation facilities, and a data convergence innovation center.
The total project cost is 43.3 billion KRW (20 billion KRW each from national and city funds, and 3.3 billion KRW from private investment).
Ulsan City plans to establish an implementation plan by December and begin construction after receiving approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom of Ulsan said, “We hope that the Jung-gu Ujeong Innovation City and Seongan-dong areas will achieve economic revitalization and become a key pillar in Ulsan’s development.”
