Chosunghwan, President of Hyundai Mobis, Steps Down
Cho Sung-hwan, president of Hyundai Mobis, will step down from his position as CEO. Next year, he will become the first Korean to assume the presidency of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and he plans to leave the company to focus on ISO duties.
According to explanations from inside and outside the company on the 16th, President Cho recently shared this information with the company’s board of directors and expressed his intention to resign at an executive meeting. It is reported that his future course of action will be decided soon and announced publicly. Following company precedent, he is expected to serve as an advisor for two years after stepping down.
Born in 1961, President Cho majored in mechanical engineering at Stanford University. He has served as CEO of Hyundai Autron and deputy head of Hyundai Motor’s R&D division. Since December 2020, he has been serving as CEO of Hyundai Mobis. Under his leadership, Hyundai Mobis recorded its highest-ever sales for two consecutive years and surpassed 50 trillion won in sales for the first time in 2022.

In September last year, President Cho was elected as the first Korean president of ISO. This year, he has been active as president-elect alongside the current president, Ulrika Franke. President Cho will assume the ISO presidency next year and lead the organization for two years. ISO is an organization with 167 member countries and handles approximately 24,000 international standards.
