Golf Resort Chairman's Son Sentenced to Additional 1 Year 2 Months for 'Underage Prostitution'
Court: "Multiple offenses including sex purchase involving youths and drug use worsen the crime's nature"
The son of a famous golf resort chairman, who was sentenced to prison for illegally filming sexual encounters with women, has received an increased sentence on charges including child prostitution and drug use.
The Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 31 (Chief Judge Lee Jung-min) sentenced Kwon Mo to 1 year and 2 months in prison and a fine of 300,000 won on the 16th for charges including child prostitution under the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sexual Abuse. He was also ordered to complete sexual violence treatment and drug addiction rehabilitation education programs and was banned from working at institutions related to children, adolescents, and the disabled for five years.
Kim Mo, who operated a prostitution business and introduced women such as entertainment bar employees to Kwon, was sentenced to 10 months in prison, and Jang Mo, a secretary who arranged prostitution with minors for Kwon, was fined 2 million won. Another secretary charged with using ecstasy together with Kwon was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Kwon is accused of illegally filming and possessing sexual encounter scenes 68 times between 2017 and 2021, and storing about 30 illegally filmed materials taken between 2013 and 2016. He is also charged with engaging in prostitution 51 times, including so-called ‘VVIP prostitution’ targeting university students and aspiring models, and twice in October 2021 with minors. It was revealed that Kwon used drugs such as ketamine and ecstasy during the commission of these crimes.
The court stated, "Kwon filmed and possessed sexual encounter scenes with multiple victims without consent, purchased sex from several people including juveniles, and used drugs, showing a serious nature of the crime."
