Suncheon-si Hosts 'Empathy Concert & Talk' for Disability Awareness Improvement
Creating a Culture of Disability Empathy with Artists with Developmental Disabilities
Suncheon City in Jeollanam-do announced that on the 16th, it will hold a "Sympathy Concert & Talk" with the "Miracle Voice Ensemble," a vocal ensemble composed of developmentally disabled singers, at the Suncheon Culture and Arts Center Small Theater to promote awareness of disabilities.
This event was planned to cultivate sensitivity toward disabilities and create a culture of empathy for people with disabilities. It will provide an opportunity to share the sincere life stories of the ensemble members living as artists with developmental disabilities, accompanied by music.
Today's performing group, the "Miracle Voice Ensemble," is a mixed ensemble composed of developmentally disabled vocalists. As instructors for disability awareness improvement who have a passion for music, they convey a powerful message of hope and inspiration to people with disabilities by uniting through music beyond their disabilities.
Additionally, a mini exhibition will be held showcasing artistic works such as pottery and hand-knitted crafts, calligraphy, paintings, and fabric art, all carefully created by people with disabilities.
No Gwan-gyu, Mayor of Suncheon, said, "Through this resonant Sympathy Concert & Talk, I hope to foster a disability-friendly and empathetic atmosphere for living together and create an opportunity to expand active participation of people with disabilities in the cultural and artistic fields."
