Wingsfoot "Expecting Record High Sales of 'Bearpaw' Amid This Winter's Cold Wave"
Wingsfoot announced on the 15th that its sales are expected to increase significantly this year, centered on the Bearpaw exclusive stores in department stores, as the winter peak season approaches. Since July, Wingsfoot has been operating an exclusive Bearpaw store at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam, the largest department store in Korea. They plan to maximize sales by placing new products and key items for this winter in the exclusive department store locations.
Operating exclusive brand stores has rapidly increased not only performance but also the brand value of Bearpaw. By organizing stores with a single brand’s products, consumers recognize the expertise of Bearpaw as a shearling boots brand and the unique differentiators of Bearpaw are highlighted. Wingsfoot intends to maximize consumer experience with Bearpaw and strengthen brand awareness through this approach.
Bearpaw is a U.S. brand focused on footwear made primarily from shearling and leather materials, such as shearling boots. Wingsfoot secured the exclusive domestic license for Bearpaw in 2008. Based on independent branding capabilities from product planning to production and distribution, Wingsfoot has successfully grown Bearpaw into a well-known brand in the domestic market.
Through exclusive department store outlets, Wingsfoot expects not only to expand brand awareness but also to create synergy with its existing distribution channels such as home shopping and online malls. When consumers recognize the brand as a department store brand, the ripple effect leading to actual purchases is significant. Wingsfoot plans to expand Bearpaw exclusive brand stores starting with Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam.
Bearpaw’s sales have grown at an average annual rate of 33% over the past three years. Wingsfoot has operated Bearpaw as a specialized brand store in line with the brand’s rising awareness and sales expansion. Since sales traditionally surge in winter, the company expects significant sales growth again this year.
Wingsfoot plans to continuously secure new overseas brands and incubate them through its own offline select shop ‘Y Concept’ to grow them into independent brands. Recently, Wingsfoot signed an exclusive domestic license agreement for the Italian premium brand ‘Adno’ and launched it.
A Wingsfoot official stated, “Based on 16 years of independent branding capabilities, we have grown Bearpaw into a popular brand domestically and plan to continuously expand sales of new global brands,” adding, “We are also promoting expansion into overseas markets such as North America based on Bearpaw’s successful reference.”
