Muan-gun Conducts Intensive Crackdown on Fraudulent Distribution of Muan Sarang Gift Certificates
4066 Franchise Stores... Intensive Inspection of High-Value and Repeated Payment Cash Fraud
Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on illegal distribution targeting all affiliated stores of the Muan Sarang Gift Certificate until the 27th to eradicate illegal distribution and establish a sound distribution order.
According to the county on the 15th, the main targets of the crackdown are 4,066 affiliated stores of the Muan Sarang Gift Certificate, where illegal receipt and exchange of gift certificates, refusal of gift certificate payments, and discriminatory treatment compared to cash will be inspected.
In particular, high-value payments, repeated payments, and cashing out (converting gift certificates into cash without selling goods or providing services) will be intensively monitored.
The county plans to directly visit the targeted affiliated stores to verify illegal distribution based on the gift certificate exchange details observed through the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation’s ‘Abnormal Transaction System’ and resident reports.
For affiliated stores confirmed to be involved in illegal distribution, administrative measures such as guidance, cancellation of store registration, and fines will be imposed depending on the case, and if serious violations are detected, investigation requests will be made.
A county official said, “We ask for the active cooperation of affiliated store owners and residents to establish a sound distribution order and eradicate illegal distribution of the Muan Sarang Gift Certificate, which plays a significant role in revitalizing the local economy.”
