Busan City Publishes List of High-Amount and Habitual Local Tax Delinquents
On the 15th at 9 a.m., Busan City disclosed a new list of 557 high-amount and habitual local tax delinquents, including 507 individuals owing more than 10 million KRW in local taxes and 50 individuals with high and habitual arrears in local administrative sanctions and charges, totaling 27.8 billion KRW, on the Busan City website and the Cyber Local Tax Office.
The disclosure of the list is one of the indirect enforcement measures against delinquents, such as travel bans and public information registration, aimed at raising awareness about arrears and fostering a culture of sincere tax payment. It is implemented simultaneously by local governments nationwide every year on the third Wednesday of November.
The subjects of disclosure are those who, as of January 1 this year, have unpaid local taxes and local administrative sanctions and charges exceeding 10 million KRW nationwide for over one year since the occurrence of arrears, and who have been given an opportunity to explain for more than six months but have failed to pay without special reasons.
From 9 a.m. on the 15th, the names, business names (corporate names), ages, occupations (industries), addresses, and amounts owed of the delinquents will be disclosed on the Busan City website, the Busan Cyber Local Tax Office, and Wetax. If a corporation is delinquent, the representative of the corporation will also be disclosed.
Additionally, immediately after the list disclosure, the Customs Service will be entrusted with enforcement actions such as seizure and public auction of goods imported by those on the list.

We will actively strive to collect arrears from those who deliberately conceal assets despite having the ability to pay and refuse to settle their debts even after being publicly disclosed, mobilizing all available resources.”
