Yongin City-Kakao Space to Create 52,000㎡ Park in Yongin Gogi-dong
Kakao Space Development Project Cost Burden of 5.5 Billion KRW
Gyeonggi-do Yongin City and Kakao Space are creating a large-scale park of 52,000㎡ in the Gogi-dong area of Suji-gu, Yongin. The city provides the land, and Kakao Space bears the construction costs for the park.
Yongin City announced on the 15th that it signed a 'Social Contribution Park Creation Consignment Agreement for the Gogi Neighborhood Park Creation Project' with Kakao Space at the city hall on the 14th. The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin, and Lim Seong-wook, CEO of Kakao Space, among others.
According to the agreement, Kakao Space will pay 5.5 billion KRW for the park creation project, and the city will create the park next year on the land purchased with city funds.
This agreement was made after Kakao Space proposed creating a space that would contribute to citizens' leisure activities as part of its social contribution while constructing an artificial intelligence (AI) campus in the area. Kakao Space is building an AI campus with a total floor area of 17,937㎡, from four basement floors to four above-ground floors, on a 6,363㎡ site at 47-2 Gogi-dong adjacent to Gogi Neighborhood Park.
Gogi Neighborhood Park is a large park of 336,275㎡ located south of Seongnam Pangyo Daechang District. The park is adjacent to the 180,000㎡ Nakseong Reservoir, making it a popular spot frequently visited by residents of Bundang and Pangyo New Towns.

The city explained that the target site for this park creation corresponds to one-third of the 150,000㎡ land area of the Gogi Neighborhood Park's land section. The city plans to create terraces, grass plazas, walking trails, seasonal flower gardens, and barefoot paths here.
To this end, the city will allocate Kakao Space's contribution amount in next year's budget and proceed with the project. In particular, related permits such as implementation plan approval will be processed promptly to complete the park creation within next year. Kakao Space will pay the project costs by the end of February next year and will proceed with all necessary processes for construction, such as design services, in consultation with the city.
