Icheon-si Publishes List of 59 High-Amount and Habitual Tax Delinquents
Local Taxes 2.347 Billion Won, Administrative Sanctions and Charges 519 Million Won
On the 15th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province disclosed the list of 59 new high-amount and habitual tax delinquents.
The delinquents disclosed on this day are those who have overdue amounts of 10 million won or more, with more than one year elapsed since the occurrence of the delinquency, in accordance with the Local Tax Collection Act and the Act on the Collection of Local Administrative Penalties and Charges.
Prior to the disclosure of the list, the city provided advance notice and an opportunity to explain to the prospective list subjects for six months starting from March, but those who did not pay were finally disclosed after review by the Gyeonggi Province Local Tax Deliberation Committee.
The disclosed information includes the delinquent's name or business name, age, occupation, address, amount overdue, tax item, payment deadline, and details of the delinquency.
The total amount overdue by the disclosed high-amount and habitual delinquents is 2,866 million won, including 2,347 million won in local taxes (53 people) and 519 million won in local administrative penalties and charges (6 people).
The list can be checked on the websites of Gyeonggi Province, Icheon City, and Wetax (www.wetax.go.kr).

A city official stated, "While flexible delinquency measures will be enforced for livelihood-related delinquents, we plan to make every effort to collect from high-amount and habitual delinquents who deliberately evade payment."
