Naver's 'Gak Sejong' Supercomputer Ranks 22nd Globally in Performance... Top Level in Korea
The supercomputer 'Sejong,' built in Team Naver's second data center 'Gak Sejong,' ranked 22nd in the world supercomputer performance list.
On the 15th, Naver Cloud announced that the supercomputer Sejong ranked 22nd on the 'TOP500' list revealed at the high-performance computing international conference 'SC23' held in Denver, Colorado, USA. The non-profit organization 'TOP500' has been publishing rankings of the world's top 500 supercomputers twice a year, in June and November, since 1993.
Sejong's computing power is up to 32.97 petaflops (PFlops), making it the highest-performing domestic supercomputer as of November this year. A petaflop refers to performing 1,000 trillion mathematical operations per second.
Naver has been building and operating supercomputers since the second half of 2020. The newly built supercomputer 'Sejong' is twice the scale of the previously constructed supercomputer. Based on 'Gak Sejong,' equipped with the supercomputer, Team Naver plans to lead technological innovation and accelerate the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) business.
Sejong is composed of 2,240 NVIDIA A100 Tensor Core Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) and enables low-latency, high-speed communication through the NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand networking platform and In-Network Computing. Additionally, a dedicated 3.6 petabyte (PB) storage system was built exclusively for the supercomputer. The storage network bandwidth is 22 terabits per second (Tbps).
