Daejeon City Publishes List of 214 High-Amount and Habitual Tax Delinquents
Daejeon City announced on the 15th that it has disclosed the list of 214 high-amount and habitual tax delinquents on the Daejeon City website and Wetax.
The disclosed delinquents are those who, as of January 1, have failed to pay local taxes and local administrative penalties/levies of 10 million KRW or more for over one year after the occurrence of the delinquency. The disclosed items include the delinquent’s name, business name (corporate name), age, occupation, address, amount owed, and reasons for delinquency.
The total amount owed by the delinquents is 5,949 million KRW. This amount combines 5,768 million KRW in local taxes owed by 206 individuals and 181 million KRW in local administrative penalties/levies owed by 8 individuals.
Among them, individuals (159 persons) owe a total of 4,715 million KRW, and corporations (55 entities) owe 1,234 million KRW. The highest amount owed by an individual is 252 million KRW, and the highest amount owed by a corporation is 75 million KRW.
Regarding the distribution by amount owed, 161 delinquents owe between 10 million KRW and less than 30 million KRW, accounting for 75.2% of all disclosed delinquents. The unpaid local taxes and other charges by these delinquents amount to 2,726 million KRW, which is 45.8% of the total delinquent amount.
Daejeon City finalized the list of disclosed delinquents after providing opportunities for voluntary payment and explanation to the subjects until last month and reviewing the cases through the Local Tax Deliberation Committee.
In particular, since last year, the criteria for calculating local tax delinquencies have changed from aggregation by metropolitan local governments to nationwide aggregation, combining fragmented delinquent amounts nationwide to finalize the disclosure list, thereby eliminating blind spots in delinquency management.
The list of high-amount and habitual tax delinquents can be viewed on the Ministry of the Interior and Safety website, the Daejeon City website, or Wetax.
