Bedbug Emergency... Yongin City Strengthens Quarantine and Conducts Special Inspections
Targeting 193 Accommodation and Bathhouse Businesses
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 15th that it will strengthen quarantine measures and conduct special inspections of public hygiene facilities in the area to alleviate citizens' concerns over the spread of bedbugs.
This special inspection will be carried out by the end of this month targeting 193 lodging and bathhouse businesses in the region. The inspection will check whether disinfection is conducted at least once a month, whether bedding or rental clothes are reused, the cleanliness of the business premises, and compliance with public hygiene business regulations. It will also look for signs of bedbug infestation and droppings within the business premises.
Along with this, the city requested thorough bedbug quarantine management by sharing information on the characteristics of bedbugs, prevention methods, and control measures upon discovery with about 1,600 facilities subject to mandatory disinfection, including lodging facilities, food service establishments, large marts, shopping centers, traditional markets, hospitals, and cafeterias.

The public health center will investigate on-site if a suspected bedbug report is received, and if traces of bedbug habitats or droppings are found, it will immediately provide guidance on response methods and professional pest control companies.
The city added that it posts bedbug information collections on the city and public health center websites and produces bedbug prevention card news to disseminate information regularly so that citizens can obtain accurate information about bedbugs.
