Seongnam-si Publishes List of 118 Local Tax Delinquents Owing Over 10 Million Won
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province disclosed the list of 118 high-amount and habitual local tax delinquents who owe more than 10 million KRW on the 15th on the city’s homepage. The total delinquent amount of these disclosed individuals includes 3.3 billion KRW from 89 individuals and 5.6 billion KRW from 29 corporations, totaling 8.9 billion KRW.
The subjects this time are individuals and corporations who have been delinquent in local taxes of 10 million KRW or more (including deferred amounts) for over one year since the occurrence of the delinquency.
Seongnam City previously sent advance notices in March, providing a six-month period for payment and explanation of the delinquent amounts. On the 1st, after deliberation and resolution by the Gyeonggi Province Local Tax Deliberation Committee, the final list of 118 subjects for disclosure was confirmed.
Among the 118 disclosed this time, the individual with the largest delinquent amount is Mr. An (75), residing in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam City, who owes 200 million KRW in local income tax (capital gains tax). The corporation is S Corporation, which owes 3.9 billion KRW in local income tax (corporate income) and property tax.
Seongnam City has been publicly disclosing the list of high-amount tax delinquents annually since 2006.
Even if local taxes exceeding 10 million KRW have been delinquent for more than one year, those who have paid more than 50% of the delinquent amount, those with incomplete objection procedures, or those with collection deferrals due to rehabilitation plan approval decisions are excluded from disclosure.

A Seongnam City official stated, "For the delinquents whose names have been disclosed, we will collect the delinquent amounts through strong enforcement measures such as auctioning seized real estate, providing credit information, and travel bans, thereby ensuring tax fairness with sincere taxpayers."
