Jongno-gu (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) will hold the "2023 Beautiful Jongno Museum Outing" event from the 15th to the 30th of this month in collaboration with 15 museums affiliated with the Jongno-gu Private Museum Association.
This event follows last year's initiative to provide residents with opportunities to participate in various themed exhibitions and experiences, aiming to revitalize museums.
The participating museums include ▲ Gahoe Minhwa Museum ▲ Kim Daljin Art Archive Museum ▲ Tteok Museum ▲ Mokin Museum Moksukwon ▲ Bukchon Oriental Culture Museum ▲ Bukchon Museum ▲ Samsung Publishing Museum ▲ Yeongin Literature Museum ▲ Yukumwa Tile Museum ▲ Jonginara Museum ▲ Straw and Grass Folk Life Museum ▲ Chojeon Textile & Quilt Museum ▲ Chunwondang Korean Medicine Museum ▲ Korea Saekdong Museum ▲ Han Musuk Literature Museum.
In addition to planned exhibitions featuring diverse themes such as traditional culture, rice cakes, and literature, visitors can participate in activities reflecting each museum's characteristics, including drawing Minhwa coaster designs, making bookmarks, dreamcatchers, lacquerware boxes, and eco-friendly household items. A docent tour program is also available, where curators provide direct explanations about the exhibitions to enhance understanding.
The opening ceremony will be held on the 16th at Chunwondang Korean Medicine Museum (Donhwamun-ro 9-gil 27). The event will begin at 2 p.m. with District Mayor Jeong Munheon and members of the Jongno-gu Private Museum Association in attendance, followed by an opening, welcome speech, congratulatory performance, and exhibition viewing.
Meanwhile, the Beautiful Jongno Museum Outing aims to provide a culturally rich life to vulnerable residents and children by distributing 4,000 invitation tickets. Additionally, promotional materials containing 50% discount tickets on admission fees are distributed to residents, offering an opportunity to enjoy high-quality exhibitions at a lower price than usual.
