'2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter'... Jung-gu Starts with Sharing Bazaar
Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gil-seong) will hold a 'Sharing Bazaar' at the Jung-gu Office from November 22 to 23, marking the start of the '2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign.'
The Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign is an annual fundraising effort carried out every winter through public-private cooperation to help low-income vulnerable households enjoy a warm year-end and New Year. The campaign is hosted by the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest and involves local residents, organizations, and businesses centered around the district office.
This year, generous support continued through donations of goods and volunteer work. The proceeds from the bazaar will be delivered to vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone, children and youth in need of care, persons with disabilities, and welfare institutions.
The '2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign' will officially begin with a proclamation ceremony by Mayor Kim Gil-seong at 10:30 a.m. on the 22nd in the plaza in front of the Jung-gu Office. Fifteen ambassadors leading the warm winter campaign from each neighborhood will greet attendees, encouraging active participation in helping neighbors. Following this, a fundraising event will take place.
Individuals, organizations, or companies wishing to donate money or goods can do so at the reception desks set up at the Jung-gu Welfare Policy Division or local community centers, or via online transfer (Woori Bank, Account Holder: Seoul Branch of the Social Welfare Community Chest). By scanning the QR code, participants can contribute through credit card, bank transfer, or simple payment methods. The fundraising event will continue until February 14, 2024.
The bazaar will be held in the lobby on the first floor of the Jung-gu Office main building and outside the entrance. At Hyundai City Outlet Dongdaemun Branch, clothing, kitchenware, and miscellaneous goods will be sold. Emart Co., Ltd. will sell blankets, cosmetics, and daily necessities, with 70 employees volunteering at the bazaar. Samik Fashion Town, Namdaemun Market, Pyeonghwa Market, Shin Pyeonghwa Market, Dong Pyeonghwa Market, Team204, Techro Shopping Center, Art Plaza, the Dongdaemun Fashion Town Tourism Special Zone Council, and brands such as Youngone Outdoor, Vivian, Comangs, FOURB, and Suzanna’s Apron will also offer clothing, shoes, blankets, miscellaneous goods, and bakery items at affordable prices.
Taegukdang, Hotel Shilla, and Able Hyundai Hotel & Resort will support the mobile food market (providing food supplies to vulnerable groups). Additionally, BC Card will send the Red Rice Truck to provide snacks such as fish cakes and tteokbokki to mobile food market users and volunteers.
Meanwhile, eight organizations including the Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Senior and Disability Welfare Centers, and Jung-gu Volunteer Center will operate booths on the lawn plaza in front of the Jung-gu Office. The booths will promote each institution’s sharing projects and offer various hands-on activities such as making neighbor care flowerpots and earth-friendly environmental products.
