Fire at abandoned wire factory... Fire department issues Level 1 emergency response
At around 2:47 PM on the 14th, a fire of unknown cause broke out at an abandoned wire factory in Sari-ri, Daechang-myeon, Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongbuk.
As the flames spread, the fire department issued a Level 1 response and deployed two fire helicopters and 15 fire trucks to extinguish the fire. Level 1 emergency response means that all personnel and equipment from the local fire station are dispatched.
The police reported that by 6 PM, three buildings including the abandoned wire factory, the warehouse, and the dormitory were all burned down. One factory worker usually resided in the dormitory, but there were no reported injuries.

The fire department determined that the initial ignition started from outdoor stored materials. A fire official stated, "The flames have not been extinguished yet, so we are maintaining the Level 1 response," and added, "We plan to investigate the cause of the fire as soon as it is put out."
