Suncheon Nam Seung-ryong Marathon Successfully Concluded
Runners Unleash Their Fiery Passion While Embracing the Autumn Atmosphere
The 23rd Suncheon Nam Seung-ryong Marathon was successfully held on the 11th, with over 5,100 participants gathered from all over the country.
The more than 5,100 participants started from Palmaju Stadium and ran 5km, 10km, and half marathon courses along Nam Seung-ryong Road, Dongcheon, and Suncheon Bay.
Under the clear and clean autumn sky, most participants completed the race, and families, friends, and colleagues who came to cheer enjoyed various events such as dart games, prize draws, and performances while celebrating the finishers.
In the half marathon, Mr. Kim Bo-gun (35 years old, Seoul) won the men's title with a time of 1 hour and 14 minutes, and Ms. Kim Hyang-hee (42 years old, Gwangju) won the women's title with a time of 1 hour and 28 minutes. Also, the oldest participant, Mr. Kim Young-jun (84 years old, Suncheon), completed the 10km course in 1 hour and 26 minutes, receiving applause from everyone.
Notably, this event featured participants from various nationalities including Japan, China, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Kenya, laying the foundation for it to become an international competition.
Participants created an atmosphere of mutual encouragement and support, inspiring spectators, and citizens showed mature civic awareness by wishing for the safety of participants despite the inconvenience caused by traffic control.
