Mother Who Killed Two Sons After Giving Birth... Search for Eldest Son's Body Underway
A mother who killed her two children one after another after giving birth later turned herself in to the police. On the 13th, the Women and Juvenile Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they had urgently arrested and detained Ms. A (in her 30s) on suspicion of murder.
Ms. A is suspected of wrapping her first newborn son, B, in a blanket and killing him at her home in Dobong-gu, Seoul, in early September 2012, then burying and abandoning him in a nearby mountain.
She is also suspected of killing her second newborn son, C, at her home in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, in mid-October 2015, and abandoning him on Munhak Mountain. Investigations revealed that Ms. A gave birth to both sons naturally at a hospital and killed them without registering their births immediately after being discharged one or two days later.
On the 9th, she voluntarily came to the Incheon Police Agency and surrendered, saying, "I came regarding the child born in 2012 whose birth was not registered." According to the investigation, Ms. A turned herself in after the Yeonsu District Office in Incheon conducted an additional full survey of unregistered births from 2010 to 2014, following the first full survey of unregistered births from 2015 to 2022 in June.
During the investigation, when the murder suspicion surfaced, the police urgently arrested her early the next day and confirmed circumstances indicating that she had also killed her second son in 2015. Based on Ms. A’s statements, the police searched for over three hours on the 10th and found the body of the second son on Munhak Mountain in Incheon.
However, Ms. A admitted, "I killed my first son because he kept crying after being discharged from the hospital and buried him under fallen leaves in a mountain," but denied the murder charge regarding her second son, saying, "He came home after hospital discharge but died." During the police investigation, the unmarried Ms. A said, "The fathers of my two sons are different. They were men I met once, so I don’t know exactly who they are."
