Absolutely Not as a Remarriage Partner... Man Says "Femi," Woman Says "Mamaboy"
Singles returning to the dating scene who hope to remarry revealed that men tend to give up on potential remarriage partners if they are 'feminists,' while women tend to do so if the partner is a 'mama's boy.'
On the 13th, remarriage information company Only-U, in collaboration with marriage information company Bienarae (CEO Son Dong-gyu), conducted a survey via email and phone from the 6th to the 11th targeting 538 nationwide (twilight) singles hoping to remarry (269 men and 269 women each).
In response to the first question, "What type of personality in a remarriage matchmaking partner would make you immediately give up?" 35.7% of male respondents answered "feminist." Among women, 42.0% answered "mama's boy," making it the highest proportion.
Following that, men answered in order: "Kimchi-nyeo" (a derogatory term for women who indulge in luxury and vanity, 29.4%), "mama's girl" (20.5%), and "narcissist" (someone with excessive self-love, 14.4%).
Women responded with "patriarchal" (36.8%), "narcissist" (16.0%), and "feminist" (5.2%) in that order.
Son Dong-gyu, CEO of Only-U, explained, "Many single men have a critical view of women with feminist tendencies because, while they actively pursue their own rights, they often neglect their duties and responsibilities." He added, "Women express dissatisfaction with remarriage candidates who, despite having marriage experience, are not mentally independent and are overly dependent on their parents, especially their mothers."
In response to the next question, "How do you react if your remarriage matchmaking partner falls short of expectations?" both men and women mostly answered "make an excuse and leave early" (men 43.1%, women 41.3%) and "maintain basic manners" (men 40.9%, women 44.2%).
For third place, both men and women answered "show displeasure" (men 16.0%, women 14.5%).
An Only-U official stated, "When arranging matchmaking meetings, there are cases where one party behaves rudely if they are not interested, which can hurt the other person's feelings," and emphasized, "Even if the partner is not the ideal spouse you expected, you must at least maintain basic manners."
