SonyD Subsidiary SonyDOn Conducts Advanced Practical Training on Battery Recycling
SonidOn, a subsidiary of KOSDAQ-listed company Sonid (CEO Jinseop Kim), announced on the 13th that it conducted a "Used Battery Reuse Practical Training (Advanced Secondary Battery)" over two days on the 9th and 10th in collaboration with Chungbuk Energy Industry-Academia Convergence Center (Director Songsu Tak).
The training targeted 20 advanced workers in the energy industry sectors such as ESS (Energy Storage Systems) and secondary batteries within Chungbuk Province. The program was divided into two parts: ▲Battery safety management and battery reuse theory classes ▲Practical training on manufacturing used battery reuse storage devices. The theory sessions were led by Professor Pilsoo Kim from Daelim University and Dr. Byungchul Yoo, a KAIST engineer, while the practical sessions were conducted by SonidOn managers Jongguk Yoo and Jesub Lee.
In particular, the hands-on practice of manufacturing actual reuse batteries received high praise from participants. One participant said, "I became interested because this is an education program in the rapidly emerging battery recycling field. It was easy to understand and more beneficial because it moved away from theory-centered education and allowed us to manufacture batteries ourselves."
Jinseop Kim, CEO of SonidOn, stated, "Our company is leading the battery recycling sector in Chungbuk Province. This training is very meaningful as it is the first battery recycling practical training conducted by a private company. We plan to regularly organize and operate customized training courses in the battery recycling field going forward."

Meanwhile, SonidOn was established by Sonid in June to carry out the business of collecting and storing electric vehicle batteries nationwide. By securing dismantling data for all existing electric vehicles and those yet to be released, it holds the domestic first record of collecting and dismantling batteries from 20,000 recalled vehicles and about 20,000 ESS units. In the future, SonidOn plans to establish and operate an electric vehicle collection, storage, and resource recovery center equipped with a management system for electric vehicle battery recycling. Recently, it also purchased a factory located in Ochang-eup, Cheongju City, Chungbuk Province, to strengthen its competitiveness in the pretreatment sector.
