The Gyeonggi Provincial Institute of Health and Environment announced on the 13th that from January to the end of October this year, it collected and tested 392 agricultural products distributed through 25 online platforms including large supermarket online malls, open markets, and social markets within the province via online ordering. The results confirmed that 10 cases, including red pepper powder, exceeded the allowable residual pesticide limits.
The inspection results showed that imported red pepper powder (2 cases), imported dried chili peppers (2 cases), coriander leaves (2 cases), basil leaves (2 cases), imported infusion tea (1 case), and spinach (1 case) contained pesticide, fungicide, and growth regulator components exceeding the standards.
The Provincial Institute of Health and Environment registered these non-compliant agricultural products in the "Ministry of Food and Drug Safety Emergency Notification System for Non-compliant Foods" and notified relevant agencies.
A representative from the Provincial Institute of Health and Environment stated, "We will continue to conduct ongoing inspections of agricultural products distributed through increasingly diversified online channels to ensure safe food for residents."
